What AI live commerce is,
how it works, and whether it is allowed
AI live commerce is live selling where an AI host — a digital version of a real person's face and voice — presents products, states prices and promotions, answers comments and asks for the order instead of a human host, while a human team writes and approves every line and runs the system backstage. In Thailand it runs on Facebook, YouTube, Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Live under each platform's terms, with the host labelled as AI and consent from the person it is made from.
Four terms that get mixed up
Live commerce
Selling through a live video stream where viewers buy on the spot — Shopee Live, TikTok Shop, Facebook Live. The host can be a person or an AI.
AI host
A digital character made from a consenting real person's face and voice, speaking a prepared script in that person's cloned voice. UpperLive's host "Watt" is made from the real Watt on the HelloAds team.
AI live commerce
Live commerce with an AI host doing the talking and a human team in control of the script and comments — UpperLive's service.
Virtual influencer
A fully invented character, not based on a real person, used mostly for content and advertising. An AI host differs in having a real template and in selling live.
From a real person to the first live
in five steps
A real person consents
Written consent from the owner of the face and voice is recorded first, then a short reference video and voice sample are captured.
The AI host is built
The voice is cloned and the character generated from the reference: clear Thai, English too, with that person's look and tone.
Scripts come from your shop's data
The team writes the opener, one script per product, bridges and an answer set for comments from the product list and prices you confirmed. You review and edit before air.
Clips are rendered in advance
Every line becomes an AI clip before the live, so there is no uncontrolled improvising, and clips are reused in every live until the script changes.
Live with a team backstage
The system sequences the clips into a show and streams into your channel. It spots keywords in comments and the host answers with approved replies; new questions are typed by the admin and spoken at once; a price or stock change stops the old line immediately.
What it can do
- Live all day, every day, no lost voice, no days off
- State prices and promos correctly every time, from your latest data
- Answer prepared comments, addressing viewers by name
- Rotate product sets with each week's promotion and stop selling what sold out
- Speak Thai and English; use your own staff's face and voice (with consent)
What it cannot do (and we do not claim)
- Answer off-script questions on its own — the admin types them
- Hold or demonstrate products by hand like a person
- Improvise, joke, read the room
- Guarantee sales — results depend on products, prices and audience
- Bring viewers in by itself — that takes ads or your own following
Is it allowed? Three conditions must hold
- Consent — the face and voice come from a person who consented in writing; never a celebrity or someone unaware
- Labelled as AI — every live and clip tells viewers it is AI-generated, as each platform requires
- Only confirmed facts — no invented claims, no wrong prices; the human team can stop or change any line mid-live
Each platform's terms on AI in live can change. The UpperLive team tracks them and adjusts. Per-platform details are on the platforms page.

What do I need to prepare, and how long does it take?
Three things: your product list with prices, the selling points you want spoken, and the questions customers ask most. Send them today and within 3 days you review the script and a sample clip of the host. Edit until you are happy, then go live.
Who answers customer questions during the live?
The system spots keywords in comments and the host answers with replies your shop has approved, addressing the viewer by name. For a new question, the HelloAds team types a reply and the host says it right away.
We have hundreds of products and prices change often. Does it work?
Yes. We suggest starting with 10–20 best-sellers for the main script and rotating product sets with each week's promotion. Every script is tied to the latest product data: change a price and the old script stops until a new clip is rendered. Clips for unchanged products are reused in every live.
Can the host look like our own staff member?
Yes, with recorded consent from the owner of the face and voice every time, and an "AI-generated" label as each platform requires.
Can the host speak English?
Yes. Send an English script. The accent may be slightly Thai.
What does a package include? Does it include an audience?
A package includes the AI host, script and clips, system operation for every live hour, and a backstage admin answering comments. It does not include bringing viewers in — HelloAds offers advertising separately for that.
